Last updated: August 11, 2026

Draft for review. This document is a working draft and is not yet in effect. It must be reviewed and finalised before publication, and the bracketed [placeholders] completed.

These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of Atlas Apologia (the “Service”), operated by bConsulted LLC, a Virginia limited liability company (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By accepting an invitation, creating an account, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Invitation-only access

Access to the Service is closed by design and granted by invitation only. Invitations are personal to you and may not be transferred or shared. We may decline, suspend, or revoke access at our discretion, including where access is required to keep the Service fair, safe, or lawful.

2. Eligibility

You must be able to form a binding contract to use the Service. Where the Service is used within a school, seminary, university, or other organisation, the organisation is responsible for the eligibility, supervision, and conduct of the members it invites, including any members below the age of majority in their jurisdiction.

3. Your account

You are responsible for the information you provide, for keeping your credentials secure, and for activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorised use. You may close your account at any time through your account settings.

4. Acceptable use

The Service exists to study and compare belief systems fairly and to test arguments on their merits. You agree that you will not:

  • misrepresent a tradition, source, or person, or attribute views to them that the cited sources do not support;
  • use the Service to harass, demean, or incite hatred against any person or group, including on the basis of religion or belief;
  • attempt to rank, rate, or present any tradition as superior in the shared comparative spaces, contrary to the Service’s neutrality;
  • upload unlawful, infringing, or malicious content, or attempt to disrupt, probe, or circumvent the security of the Service;
  • scrape, resell, or use the Service or its content to train machine learning models without our written permission.

5. Contributor and user content

Some users may author claims, arguments, sources, and discussion content (“User Content”). You retain ownership of your User Content. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt for formatting, and display your User Content within the Service for the purpose of operating and improving it. You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to submit your User Content and that it is accurate and properly sourced. We may remove or edit User Content that breaches these Terms.

6. AI features

The Service includes AI-assisted features, including personas that reason from within a tradition and tools that help analyse arguments. AI outputs are generated automatically, may be incomplete or incorrect, and do not represent the views of us, any contributor, or any tradition. They are provided for study and discussion and are not a substitute for primary sources or professional, theological, legal, or other advice.

7. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, text, and curated content (other than User Content), is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable licence to access and use the Service for its intended purpose. No other rights are granted.

8. Plans, billing, and cancellation

Certain features require a paid subscription. Pricing and plan details are presented at the point of purchase. Payments are processed by our third-party payment processor; we do not store full payment-card details. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You may cancel at any time, effective at the end of the current billing period. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable.

9. Third-party services

The Service relies on third-party providers (for example, for hosting, databases, payments, AI processing, email, and analytics). Your use of the Service may be subject to those providers’ terms, and we are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any content or AI output is accurate or complete. The Service is intended for education and respectful inquiry and is not professional advice.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, goodwill, or profits, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amounts you paid to us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim. [Confirm with counsel for your jurisdiction.]

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, damages, and expenses arising out of your User Content or your breach of these Terms, to the extent permitted by law.

13. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or to protect the Service or its users. On termination, your right to use the Service ends. Sections intended to survive termination (including ownership, disclaimers, and limitations of liability) will continue to apply.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the “last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles, and the state and federal courts located in the Commonwealth of Virginia will have exclusive jurisdiction, except where applicable law provides otherwise.
